Reinforcement design of anchor blocks for external tendons

Hong Hao,Tong Yuqiang ,He Zhiqi,Liu Zhao

Strategic Study of CAE 2013, Volume 15, Issue 8,   Pages 95-98

Abstract:

Reinforced blocks are common anchorage forms for external tendons. However, there was no mature design method. Through finite element analysis, the paper revealed that the tensile stress concentration was caused by three typical local actions. On this basis, three equations for calculating resultant forces of these local actions were formulated. Thus a quantitative reinforcement design method of anchor blocks was proposed. Finally, an anchor block of the Fourth Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge was presented as a design example to demonstrate the effectiveness and convenience of the proposed method.

MEMS-based thermoelectric infrared sensors: A review

Dehui XU, Yuelin WANG, Bin XIONG, Tie LI

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2017, Volume 12, Issue 4,   Pages 557-566 doi: 10.1007/s11465-017-0441-2

Abstract:

In the past decade, micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS)-based thermoelectric infrared (IR) sensors have received considerable attention because of the advances in micromachining technology. This paper presents a review of MEMS-based thermoelectric IR sensors. The first part describes the physics of the device and discusses the figures of merit. The second part discusses the sensing materials, thermal isolation microstructures, absorber designs, and packaging methods for these sensors and provides examples. Moreover, the status of sensor implementation technology is examined from a historical perspective by presenting findings from the early years to the most recent findings.

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2006, Volume 1, Issue 4,   Pages 472-474 doi: 10.1007/s11465-006-0062-7

Abstract: In this paper, the technical method of cooling quench medium with air-cooler in the process of bearing quenching is introduced. The exhausted hot air is directly used to dry bearing balls. It is a novel approach for full utilization of heat energy during heat treatment, which increased 30 % of the heat efficiency when compared with normal air-cooler methods that directly put exhaust air into atmosphere.

An approach for mechanical fault classification based on generalized discriminant analysis

LI Wei-hua, SHI Tie-lin, YANG Shu-zi

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2006, Volume 1, Issue 3,   Pages 292-298 doi: 10.1007/s11465-006-0022-2

Abstract: To deal with pattern classification of complicated mechanical faults, an approach to multi-faults classification based on generalized discriminant analysis is presented. Compared with linear discriminant analysis (LDA), generalized discriminant analysis (GDA), one of nonlinear discriminant analysis methods, is more suitable for classifying the linear non-separable problem. The connection and difference between KPCA (Kernel Principal Component Analysis) and GDA is discussed. KPCA is good at detection of machine abnormality while GDA performs well in multi-faults classification based on the collection of historical faults symptoms. When the proposed method is applied to air compressor condition classification and gear fault classification, an excellent performance in complicated multi-faults classification is presented.

An Ultracompact Spoof Surface Plasmon Sensing System for Adaptive and Accurate Detection of Gas Using a Smartphone

Xuanru Zhang,Jia Wen Zhu,Tie Jun Cui,

Engineering doi: 10.1016/j.eng.2023.05.013

Abstract: Resonantly enhanced dielectric sensing has superior sensitivity and accuracy because the signal is measured from relative resonance shifts that are immune to signal fluctuations. For applications in the Internet of Things (IoT), accurate detection of resonance frequency shifts using a compact circuit is in high demand. We proposed an ultracompact integrated sensing system that merges a spoof surface plasmon resonance sensor with signal detection, processing, and wireless communication. A software-defined scheme was developed to track the resonance shift, which minimized the hardware circuit and made the detection adaptive to the target resonance. A microwave spoof surface plasmon resonator was designed to enhance sensitivity and resonance intensity. The integrated sensing system was constructed on a printed circuit board with dimensions of 1.8 cm × 1.2 cm and connected to a smartphone wirelessly through Bluetooth, working in both frequency scanning mode and resonance tracking mode and achieving a signal-to-noise ratio of 69 dB in acetone vapor sensing. This study provides an ultracompact, accurate, adaptive, sensitive, and wireless solution for resonant sensors in the IoT.

A local density optimization method based on a graph convolutional network

Hao Wang, Li-yan Dong, Tie-hu Fan, Ming-hui Sun,wanghao18@mails.jlu.edu.cn,dongly@jlu.edu.cn,fth@jlu.edu.cn

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2020, Volume 21, Issue 12,   Pages 1671-1814 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1900663

Abstract: Success has been obtained using a semi-supervised graph analysis method based on a (GCN). However, GCN ignores some local information at each node in the graph, so that data preprocessing is incomplete and the model generated is not accurate enough. Thus, in the case of numerous unsupervised models based on technology, local node information is important. In this paper, we apply a local analysis method based on the similar neighbor hypothesis to a GCN, and propose a definition; we call this method LDGCN. The LDGCN algorithm processes the input data of GCN in two methods, i.e., the unbalanced and balanced methods. Thus, the optimized input data contains detailed local node information, and then the model generated is accurate after training. We also introduce the implementation of the LDGCN algorithm through the principle of GCN, and use three mainstream datasets to verify the effectiveness of the LDGCN algorithm (i.e., the Cora, Citeseer, and Pubmed datasets). Finally, we compare the performances of several mainstream graph analysis algorithms with that of the LDGCN algorithm. Experimental results show that the LDGCN algorithm has better performance in node classification tasks.

Hicham SERHOUD, Djilani BENATTOUS

Frontiers in Energy 2013, Volume 7, Issue 3,   Pages 380-387 doi: 10.1007/s11708-013-0252-z

Abstract: In this paper, based on the analysis of the mathematical model in a common synchronous reference frame of the brushless doubly-fed generator (BDFG), the grid connection strategy and maximum energy extraction control were both analyzed. Besides, the transient simulation of no-load model and generation model of the BDFG have been developed on the MATLAB/Simulink platform. The test results during cutting-in grid confirmed the good dynamic performance of grid synchronization and effective power control approach for the BDFG-based variable speed wind turbines.
